New Disaster Assistance Office Opens on Campus

Despite Hurricane Harvey passing through the Houston area nearly a month ago, many in the UHD community are still working to pick up the pieces. In an effort to help those affected by the storm, UHD opened an on-campus Disaster Assistance Office.

Ruama Camp, UHD Disaster Assistance Specialist, recently joined the University to manage the Disaster Assistance Office. She will help students and employees with their needs regarding disaster assistance programs, FEMA applications, information about the University's relief funds, community partner referrals and information on organizations supporting disaster relief. Camp previously worked with FEMA following Hurricanes Allison, Katrina and Rita and with Interfaith Ministries as its disaster liaison to Harris County.

UHD community members can schedule a consultation appointment online. The Disaster Assistance Office is located in the One Main Building, Room N441. Office hours are Mondays and Wednesdays 2—5 p.m., Tuesdays and Thursdays 9 a.m.—3 p.m. and Fridays 10 a.m.—2 p.m. Students and employees also may call 713-221-8091, email DisasterAssistance@uhd.edu or visit N441 for assistance.
