Momentum Continues in UHD Provost Search

Summary

By Mike Emery

The search for UHD's next Senior Vice President for Academic and Student Affairs and Provost continues. The Provost Search Committee, chaired by Dr. DoVeanna Fulton, Dean of the College of Humanities and Social Sciences provided an update on the search.

According to Fulton, the Committee recently met with consultants from the executive search firm, Witt/Kieffer, and learned that UHD has received more than 140 applicants. The review of the applicant pool is currently underway by the Search Committee. On Sept. 22, the Committee will reconvene with Witt/Kieffer to select up to 12 candidates for the first round of interviews slated for Oct. 13 and 14.

Fulton anticipates that three finalists will be introduced to the UHD community at a public forum on campus in early November.

"We received a competitive and diverse pool of applicants who we are very excited about," said Fulton. "We encourage the UHD community to attend the open forums to meet the finalists. We want to hear from our UHD family." Fulton expressed appreciation for the time and energy the Search Committee members are devoting to this process. She added, "They have approached this task with the measure of seriousness and intensity required to result in a successful search."

The Senior Vice President and Provost serves as the Chief Academic Officer of the University and works collaboratively with the president, vice presidents and deans to further the academic mission of the institution and the success of its students. The Senior Vice President and Provost oversees the UHD's Division of Student Affairs, which includes enrollment management and the services, programs and activities designed to augment the academic experience of students and their success.
