‘RAD’ Women’s Self Defense Registration

Women faculty, staff and students at the University of Houston-Downtown (UHD) can take basic steps to prevent or avert a physical attack with a free Rape Aggression Defense (RAD) class.

Presented by the UHD Police Department and hosted by Sports & Fitness, classes are from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on June 23 and 30 in the Student Life Center. The Rape Aggression Defense System is a program of realistic, self-defense tactics and techniques. The comprehensive course for women begins with awareness, prevention, risk reduction and avoidance, while progressing to the basics of hands-on defense training.

The class, which is four hours in duration, will help women become more aware, confident and prepared to protect themselves if they’re ever in a dangerous situation. Participants will:

  • learn defense against the most common strikes.
  • gain lifestyle awareness knowledge and empowerment to help prevent attacks.
  • receive a RAD booklet that outlines the entire physical defense program for reference and continuous personal growth.

Space is limited. To attend, register here.
