Dear UHD Community:

Hurricane season kicked off this month and will continue through November 30. Houstonians are well aware that hurricanes can have serious impact on our city and The University of Houston-Downtown (UHD).

UHD is remaining vigilant even during these early months of hurricane season. UHD’s Police Department, Emergency Management, Facilities Management, University Relations and other divisions and departments are regularly reviewing emergency procedures. Likewise, we are making sure our emergency communications systems are working properly to keep faculty, staff and students informed in the event of a severe weather threat.

I encourage all of you to be prepared during hurricane season. It is very important to make sure you’re able to receive the University’s emergency alerts (through email and text) and are aware of UHD’s different communication channels that will disseminate important notifications in the event of an emergency.

I recommend that everyone register to receive University alerts by visiting the Emergency Management site.
