On Thursday, May 25, University of Houston-Downtown (UHD) hosted Alumni Night at its Thursday Night Concert Series at Discovery Green. Headliners included ThunderSOUL Orchestra and Grady Gaines & The Texas Upsetters. Making an appearance at his first official alumni event, UHD President Dr. Juan Sánchez Muñoz  greeted more than 400 faculty, staff, loyal alumni and families (not to mention the many Houstonians in attendance).

Attendees enjoyed music, complimentary food and drinks, and fellowship with old friends.

“The UHD Alumni Night at Discovery Green concert was a great event allowing alumni and their families to come together for fun and camaraderie in the heart of downtown,” said Dr. Liza Alonzo, director of Alumni Relations. “Our Alumni Association is steadily developing and the great turnout at this event only showcases the growing interests from alumni wanting to engage with us—and we love that!  We are happy to welcome President Muñoz  as a wonderful advocate and champion to this important University effort.”

UHD would like to thank everyone who participated in the evening, including event sponsors Saint Arnold Brewing Company, and the alumni-owned James Coney Island.

And, mark your calendars for next concert on June 1 to catch Luke Winslow King with opening act The Kris Lager Band.
