UHD Intramural Basketball Champions Crowned

The intramural three-point and free throw shooting contests took place last week on March 2, and two new University of Houston-Downtown (UHD) champions came away victorious.

Daniel Rodriguez won the intramural three-point shooting contest by making 20 three-pointers. Daniel was tied for first heading into the final round with 11 made threes. Karim Perez finished the final round with 19 three-pointers, which was the high score to beat. Daniel was the second to last competitor, and knocked in his 20 three-pointer on his second to last attempt with two seconds left. This was enough to lead him to victory in the final round.

Karim Perez won the intramural free-throw shooting contest. Contestants had two rounds of 25 free throws to see who could make the most free throws. Karim made 25 straight free throws in the first round to put him in first place heading into the final round. Karim made 18 free throws in the final round giving him a score of 43 out of 50 to capture the championship.

A new team was crowned in the 2017 UHD intramural basketball league. Team Drip Sauce took the championship after defeating Old School Ballers 47-44 on Tuesday night. Jamar Finnie led the scoring with 18 points for Drip Sauce. Tony Eme and D.J. Davis each scored 11 points to contribute on offense.

All UHD intramural champions will be recognized at the 2017 Sports & Fitness Awards Banquet on May 20.
