The University of Houston-Downtown (UHD) will host “Aesthetics as Instruments of Power and Morality: An Artist Talk by Hagit Barkai,” at 11:30 a.m., Wednesday, March 1 in the One Main Building, N1099.
Barkai is a visual artist creating in painting, drawing, print, and photo-performance art mediums. Her work focuses on the human figure, clothed or nude.
Barkai’s work has been shown in exhibitions both nationally and internationally.
The artist earned a Master of Fine Arts from Penn State University and a Bachelor of Philosophy from Hebrew University in Jerusalem. She also studied at the Jerusalem Studio School, a private art school in Israel.
A former resident of Houston, Barkai is now an assistant professor of Art at Davidson College, North Carolina.
