The University of Houston-Downtown (UHD) Davies College of Business students and alumni had the opportunity to explore job opportunities with local and regional employers at the COB Spring 2017 Career Fair, one of the largest employer attended events to date.
The fair was conductedFeb. 21-22, in the Shea Street Davies College of Business building and included employers from business and industry, as well as selected governmental and public service agencies.
“I came to gather information about a few companies I was interested in learning more about, and see about their opportunities,” said Mohammed Chrispid, a UHD finance student. “Speaking face to face to company representatives, I find, opens up the door for me. I got an interview today!”
The semi-annual event brought together about 330 students and nearly 80 hiring organizations seeking to fill a variety of positions. Students had an opportunity to distribute copies of their résumé, speak directly with employer representatives and gain insight into a variety of career opportunities. Employers use the event to help them identify talented candidates to invite for interviews for both full-time positions and internships.
Employers that participated included Hewlett Packard Enterprises (HPE), CenterPoint Energy, Cintas, City of Houston, Wells Fargo, TDECU, Fastenal, ChaseSource, GEICO, Walgreens, MaloneBailey, Old Dominion Freight Line, City of Baytown, Briggs & Veselka, Fulcrum Technologies and many more.
