To coincide with US Hydro 2018, but open to all, the University of Houston-Downtown (UHD) in partnership with Quality Positioning Systems, invites the University community to attend, “Advanced Backscatter Workflow Workshop,” at 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Monday, March 20. (More information on the room location to come.)
The workshop will be hosted by Jonathan Beaudoin, QPS Chief Scientist and one of the co-authors on the Backscatter Working Group document “Backscatter measurements by seafloor-mapping sonars – Guidelines and Recommendations.” Beaudoin will discuss many of the technical and field aspects of collecting great backscatter, particularly touching on best-practices associated with particular hardware and software configurations and also survey design considerations, as described in the Backscatter Working Group report which can be found here.
This workshop will be a series of presentations and demonstrations, but attendees are encouraged to bring their own laptops and data. Qimera or Fledermaus licenses will be available for attendees of the workshop, and for 30 days following, will provide trial licenses for further evaluation of QPS workflow solution.
The workshop will be free of charge but seats will be limited. Refreshments and a light lunch will also be provided.
To reserve a space at the workshop please contact Alex Barnard, lecturer in natural sciences.
