Across the country, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day is celebrated as a National Day of Service. UHD’s Center for Community Engagement and Service Learning organized a group of more than 30 students to volunteer at the MLK Grande Parade on Monday, Jan. 16.

Several UHD student organizations participated in the festivities, including other students and their families: UHD students from the Student Government Association, Black Student Association, Social Work Community Advocacy Network, and the Sigma Lambda Beta sorority.

Students helped parade coordinators organize parade participants ahead of the big celebration.  The volunteers enjoyed spending time together and helping in their community on this historic day.
