Cap and Gown Reception a Riveting Success

UHD Graduate

More than 1,000 graduation candidates for Dec. 2016 commencement attended the University of Houston-Downtown (UHD) Cap and Gown Reception Friday, Dec. 2, and Saturday, Dec. 3. The first reception honored graduates from the College of Sciences and Technology, University College and the College of Humanities and Social Sciences. The second reception celebrated students from the College of Public Service and the College of Business.

The occasion kicked off with a welcome reception in One Main Building. Grad candidates mingled with classmates, family and current alumni while enjoying complimentary refreshments. Welcoming remarks were delivered by UHD Interim President Michael A. Olivas and Interim Provost Edward Hugetz. Laolu Davies-Yemitan and John Hernandez served as keynote speakers. Both speakers are former graduates of UHD.

The event was presented by the UHD Alumni Association.
