UHD History Department to Host Student Research Conference

The University of Houston-Downtown (UHD) History Department will host “Going to the Sources,” a Student History Research Conference from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 6 in the Welcome Center.

The event will highlight UHD and Houston-area students’ active engagement with original and provocative historical research.

Students will present papers based on their work with primary and secondary source materials across a wide variety of themes and subfields of history, including military history, oral history and world history.

The conference will feature keynote speaker James Sidbury, director of Graduate Studies at Rice University. Sidbury will present “Just Before God and Man: Legal Traditions and Constitutional Visions in Early Freetown, Sierra Leone and the United States.”

Admission is free and open to the public.
