Take me out to the Ballgame: UHD Community Attends Houston Astros Baseball Game

On Sept. 27 and 28, more than 500 members of the University of Houston-Downtown (UHD) community ventured to Minute Maid Park to watch the Houston Astros take on the Seattle Mariners. These Staff Appreciation Days were coordinated by UHD Staff Council and Employment Services and Operations.

Although the Gator community assembled to root for the Astros, Staff Appreciation Days were focused on recognizing members of UHD's team.

"Creating a culture where staff members feel appreciated makes all of the difference in the world," said UHD Interim President Michael A. Olivas. "Organizing appreciation events is a way to recognize the hard work and special accomplishments of our employees."

Staff who attended the baseball game had a wonderful time and expressed their gratitude and thanks for the "fun, stress-free event."

Olivas thanked the staff for its shared commitment and dedication to strengthen the University's focus on student success.

"It takes a village and the staff members do whatever is needed to ensure all students succeed," said Olivas.
