UHD Lecturer Presents at Offshore Technology Conference

Alex Barnard

Alex Barnard, a University of Houston-Downtown (UHD) lecturer in natural sciences, received an award for Outstanding Research Presentation at the 2016 Offshore Technology Conference (OTC) in Houston, Wednesday, May 4.

Barnard's research covered conventional and unconventional petroleum system integrity and the importance of baseline measurements in offshore monitoring. His research was funded by the University of Houston Earth and Atmospheric Sciences Graduate Assistant Teaching Fund.

OTC is sponsored by 13 industry organizations and societies, who work cooperatively to develop the technical program and cover all aspects of the energy industry. Barnard said it is the best event in Houston, where energy professionals meet to exchange ideas, gain technical knowledge and make valuable contacts.

Founded in 1969, the annual OTC flagship conference is held at NRG Park (formerly Reliant Park) in Houston. OTC has expanded technically and globally with the Arctic Technology Conference, OTC Brasil, OTC Asia and d5.
