Internship Fair Brings Major Corporations to Campus

Thursday, April 14, the Career Development Center brought together 43 major employers and more than 150 students and community members for the Part-time Job and Internship Fair. This successful, multi-industry event aimed to connect University of Houston-Downtown (UHD) students, alumni and community members with local community partners.

UHD Career Counselor Marti Trummer said, “Part-time jobs and internships are ideal for gaining industry specific skills and experience, while building soft skills all employers want.”

Attendees met with employers from education, entertainment, retail, marketing, environmental and financial industries to learn about upcoming opportunities. Wells Fargo, The Houston Texans, BBVA Compass Stadium, Houston Super Bowl Host Committee, and ESPN Radio topped the list of most visited tables at the fair.

Many attendees reported that the fair was helpful in their job search, with one student commenting, “The event was great!” Several others asked to have more employers at the next event.

Participating employers indicated they would recommend the event to others hiring, and look forward to the Career Development Center hosting future events.
