Honors Students Interviewed on Latino Talk TV

Recently, three students from the University Honors Program, Aimee Garcia-Soto, Ignasio Hernandez and Juan Leija, along with Dr. Nicholson-Preuss — the program's director — appeared on Latino Talk TV, a weekly talk show that airs live on Houston Media Source.

LatinoTVThe lively conversation focused on the opportunities available to high achieving students at the University of Houston-Downtown (UHD) and the advantages offered by the Honors Program. Students spoke about their majors and how the Honors Program impacted their success as first generation college students.

Hosted by Ben Mendez, Latino Talk TV features stories relevant to Houston's Hispanic community and regularly includes pieces on the UHD. The student demographics of the University Honors Program reflect the diversity of UHD and its identities as a Hispanic Serving Institution (HSI) and member of the Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities (HACU).

In addition to the Honors Program, the students interviewed graduated from HISD high schools, belong to UHD's LULAC Council 22268 and work on campus.
