Get Out and Vote: Houston's Joint Runoff Elections, Dec. 12

Early voting for the Joint Runoff Election between former Kemah Mayor Bill King and State Representative Sylvester Turner was on Tuesday, Dec. 8. Election Day is Saturday, Dec. 12 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

We are encouraging the UHD community to take advantage of this opportunity to cast your vote and be a part of the future of Houston we all as citizen are building together.

As UHD President Dr. Bill Flores said, "your vote makes a difference. It is a major responsibility of being a citizen of this nation that we exercise our voice in how our nation is run today because that is the road to our future as a nation. Voting forms the basis for the laboratory of democracy that is the United States."

To be eligible to vote you will need to make sure your state approved photo ID is current; with the exception of the U.S. citizenship certificate, the Photo ID must be unexpired or expired less than 60 days.

Acceptable identification for voting:

1.) Texas driver license

2.) Texas Election Identification Certificate

3.) Texas concealed handgun license

4.) United States military identification card

5.) United States citizenship certificate

6.) United States passport

7.) Texas personal identification card
