Bigger than Ever: UHD Northwest Campus Opens New Office for Faculty, Students

On Dec. 2, the University of Houston-Downtown Northwest Campus held a ribbon cutting ceremony and grand re-opening of their new Administrative Office located within Lone Star College-University Park. The campus has moved the office into bigger quarters to establish a better facility for faculty, staff and students.

According to Toye Simmons, UHD marketing manager of University Relations, the new office will provide a welcoming, common space that offers various resources and services for students to continue their education.

"We have a bigger, more accommodating space that allows us to achieve maximum productivity in servicing our students," said Simmons. "We have an open computer lab, admission services, registration, financial aid and academic advising —all things to continue to help our students succeed."

A welcoming speech was given by UHD President. Dr. Bill Flores. He thanked everyone in attendance for being present for such a significant occasion.

"Having this new space means so much for the students of this community and of the campus," said Flores. "And it's important for us to be able to offer an opportunity to get a four year degree, or a Master's degree right where [students] live. We want to create opportunities within this community so people do not have to leave."

Participants also included the Tomball Chamber of Commerce, Houston NW Chamber of Commerce and Cy-Fair Chamber of Commerce.
