President Flores to Speak at Houston Human Rights Day, Dec. 5

HRD poster updatedUniversity of Houston-Downtown President Dr. Bill Flores will serve as keynote speaker at the first Houston Human Rights Day Festival on Saturday, Dec. 5, at Discovery Green Park, 1- 4 p.m.

Co-hosted by The City of Houston, Rice University, IDEA Relief, and Youth for Human Rights, the event will feature contributions from local government bodies, educational institutions, non-profit organizations, businesses and other community leaders to engage a wide audience in raising awareness about human rights.

Event Schedule
The event will feature two main components:

 Human Rights Fair

  • Booths showcasing local organizations’ contributions to human rights in Houston, the U.S. and the world
  • Interactive activities and exhibits for children and adults that help raise awareness of human rights
  • Food and drinks

Main Stage Entertainment

  • Music/dance performances
  • Keynote speakers
  • Announcement of Houston Human Rights Award winners
