College of Business Students Connect with Walmart Leaders

On Friday, April 24, students from the College of Business (COB) visited the Walmart Distribution Center in Sealy, TX.

Sponsored by the COB Career Center and Walmart, the site visit consisted of a comprehensive facility tour and a Q&A session with the facility’s leadership – Steven Walker, assistant general manager, and Steven Nolan, transportation area manager.

“Participant saw in action the real-life and day-to-day application of what they’ve learned in Supply Chain Management courses,” said Brett Hobby, Director of the COB Career Center. “This often encourages them to continue and excel at their studies. In addition, this visit allowed Walmart leadership to interact and make connections with our students that will benefit the University moving forward.”

Walmart has been a great supporter of the new career center in the College of Business, providing funding for “The Career Connections Series” events in the fall 2014 and spring 2015 semesters.
