Department of Social Sciences Presents Spring Lecture Series

As part of the Department of Social Sciences Spring Lecture Series, David Ryden, associate dean of the College of Humanities and Social Sciences (CHSS) will present “The Society of West India Planters and Merchants in the Age of Emancipation, ca. 1816-1835” on Feb. 26, from 2:30 – 3:30 p.m. in N1099.

Ryden’s research analyzes the London Society of West India Planters’ meeting minutes from the 1820’s and early 1830’s, paying particular attention to the Society’s organizational structure, political networks inside parliament, and relationship with the colonial assemblies and island agents.
