Faculty/Staff Giving Campaign Kicks Off Feb. 26

2015Faculty_Staff_Campaign_LogoThe Annual Faculty Staff Giving Campaign has become a tradition in UHD's culture as an annual opportunity for employees to support student scholarships and programs specific to the students they serve.

In honor of the University's 40th anniversary, the Faculty Staff Giving Campaign committee invites all employees to a kick-off celebration which will be held on Thursday, Feb. 26, from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. in A300. The campaign drive will be held March 2 -13.

The primary campaign focus is on student scholarships that make it possible for students to continue their education without the stress of financial burden. These scholarships can cover a broad spectrum of programs and priorities - from college or program-based scholarships, to scholarships engaging students in the community.

This year's committee members are:

Liza Alonzo (President's Office)

Dr. Ed Cueva (College of Humanities & Social Sciences)

Belinda Hernandez (College of Business)

Erica Morales (Employee Services & Operations)

Dr. Rebecca Pfeffer (College of Public Service)

Dr. Tim Redl (College of Science & Technology)

Mary Torres (University Business Services)

Jaha Williams (Advancement & University Relations)

The team is hopeful that all employees will consider participating in this year's campaign by making a gift. The committee is very enthusiastic about some of the improvements made to encourage employee participation including:

• New convenient online payroll deduction pledge process

• A shorter campaign period

• The launch of a new campaign website

Director of Individual Giving, Jaha Williams, said "It's not about the amount of the gift; rather, we want to encourage everyone to participate. The entirety of each gift will go to the fund of the donor's choice."

As always, participants in the campaign will be automatically entered into various drawings to win great prizes sponsored by community partners. Employees are encouraged to speak to their department coordinators for instructions.

For questions about the campaign, please contact Jaha Williams at 713-221-8184 or Liza Alonzo at 713-221-8682.
