ELI Students Make Easter Baskets for Homeless Youth

Last week, students from the UHD English Language Institute learned about the Easter holiday, sacred and secular.

The students were then invited to make Easter baskets, which they could keep or donate to the House of Tiny Treasures, a school for homeless youth in Houston.

Many of the baskets were donated to HTT because the ELI students "wanted to send something to the homeless children," said Gail Kellersberger, ELI director.

The donated baskets, packed with Easter goodies, were delivered by Paulette Purdy, a long-time HTT supporter. "I was thrilled to receive the baskets," she said. "To think the students did this regardless of the holiday but for the children is beyond words. We are going to use them as prizes at our upcoming spring egg hunt."

"All in all, it was a wonderful melding of two programs," said Kellersberger.
