Volunteers Needed for Cap and Gown Reception

Courtesy of Jaha Williams, Director of Individual Giving

We need your help establishing a new UHD tradition! Student Success and the Office of Advancement will host an inaugural Cap and Gown Reception to honor graduation candidates May 3 and 4. We are asking for faculty and staff volunteers to serve as hosts, assist in cap and gown distribution, and other similar duties.

During the reception, seniors will be inducted as alumni, learn about becoming involved former students, receive information about commencement, pick up their caps and gowns, and enjoy light refreshments.

There will be two receptions to accommodate the nearly 1,000 seniors expected to graduate this spring. The first will be held from 6-9 p.m. Friday, May 3, to honor graduates from the College of Sciences and Technology, University College and the College of Humanities and Social Sciences. The second reception will be held from 4-7 p.m. Saturday, May 4, for students from the College of Public Service and the College of Business. About 30 volunteers are needed at each reception, which will begin in the Coffee House, move to the Auditorium, and end in A300.

For additional information about this new tradition, please contact Jaha Williams at 713-221-8184 or williamsjah@uhd.edu.
