Online Biology Course Certified for High Quality

By: Mary Ann Cozza

QMWith the future of education moving steadily into the realm of online courses, one UHD biology course stands out above the crowd.

Lecturer Samita Goshal recently submitted her online Biology 1303: Human Anatomy & Physiology I course for review to Quality Matters (QM), a nationally recognized, faculty-centered, peer review process designed to certify the quality of online courses and online components. Colleges and universities across the country use the tools in developing, maintaining and reviewing their online courses. According to Goshal, her course received a score of 95, the highest available.

Goshal said, "I have been building and teaching online/hybrid biology, and human anatomy and physiology courses for many years. I am a QM certified reviewer and have taken numerous training and certification courses to learn how to build and teach online classes. In September 2012, I decided to submit my own course to QM.

"I am honored to receive a perfect score and an excellent review from a respectable online consortium and hope to see other courses get QM certified at UHD," she said.
