The UHD men's basketball and powerlifting club teams are both going for championships this weekend.

The basketball team is scheduled to play in the quarterfinal round against Houston Community College-Northwest on Friday at 7:45 p.m. at Lone Star College-Kingwood. If the Gators win on Friday, they will advance to the semifinal round on Sunday. The team hopes to ultimately reach the final round scheduled for 5:30 p.m. Sunday. A UHD championship win this weekend would be the fourth conference title overall for the Gators. Lone Star College-Kingwood is located at 20000 Kingwood Drive in Kingwood. Admission to the games are free.

The powerlifting team will be going after the World Association of Benchers and Dead Lifters world championship title this weekend in Las Vegas, Nevada. The team finished as runners-up in this competition last year. The students are also in the running for numerous WABDL individual titles, national and world records.
