2012 State Employee Charitable Campaign has begun

Courtesy of Akif Uzman

When was the last time you gave to the Houston Area Women's Center? How about Interfaith Ministries for Greater Houston? Or Target Hunger or the Houston Food Bank? Well, you can give to these fine charity organizations or any number of many other local organizations that benefit the Greater Houston Area, including the M.D. Anderson Cancer Center and the Houston Symphony, through the State Employee Charitable Campaign (SECC).

You can make small monthly donations through a payroll deduction or by check to SECC. For a list of charities go to the online system, or download the PDF. It is important to pick charities where you want your money to go, otherwise it may go into the general fund, in which any charity may benefit.

A form may be picked up from your departmental coordinator (see list below). These forms must be used, copies will not be accepted. Bring the original and yellow copy to your coordinator with your signature, or bring them to Ms. Anne Cole in N723 (713-221-8019, colea@uhd.edu). Keep the pink copy for your records.

Deadline is 4 p.m. Nov. 14, 2012.

Thank you very much in advance for supporting the SECC this year!

Last year at this point 17 days from the deadline, we had collected a little over $6,000; we are only $600 behind last year, which I think is whoppingly impressive given the many other contributions that most folks have done for the University and the Houston community this year already!
