UHD is proud to announce that the Bachelor of Social Work program was recently accredited by the Council on Social Work Education, a nonprofit national association representing more than 2,500 individual members, as well as graduate and undergraduate programs of professional social work education.
According to Jo Daugherty Bailey, the program director, accreditation from CSWE is a reflection that UHD has created a strong program with solid curriculum and evidence of contributions to the community.
“Accreditation is essential for social work programs: students are guaranteed academic integrity; the community is assured that graduates have critical knowledge and skills; and graduates are eligible for state licenses and to compete for advanced standing positions in graduate schools of social work,” Bailey said.
“We have been working for years towards this goal. In 2006, under the leadership of Drs. Susan Ahern, Max Castillo and Molly Woods, we were charged with creating, and then given the resources and latitude to develop, a social work program. Since then, the new administration has continued their support, and we have built what is now a truly amazing program.”
