Recently, the Council of the Society of Plastic Engineers voted to approve the establishment of a student chapter of the organization at UHD.

The new section will be sponsored by the South Texas Section, which will provide $2,000 annually for student scholarships and $800 in support funds for events and speakers.

The faculty advisor for the group is Mike Matson, instructor in the Natural Sciences Department.
