As part of an effort to encourage more young women to choose careers in technology, the National Center for Women & Information Technology (NCWIT) and the Center for Computational Sciences Distributed Simulation (CCSDS) at UHD recognized 19 high school women from the Houston area at an awards banquet for their accomplishments and aspirations in computing and technology.

The awards event was held at UHD and sponsored by industry partners Schlumberger and Center Point Energy. UHD President Flores welcomed guests to the event and encouraged winners to apply to UHD.
