Ed-U-Gator Hangs with the Rockets

UHD's very own mascot, Ed-U-Gator, was invited by the Houston Rockets to attend their Jan. 17 game along with other area mascots.

Ed-U-Gator went onto the court, interacted with fans, threw T-shirts and prizes into the stands and even played a game of musical chairs with the other mascots.

"I had so much fun," said Donte Lewis, who embodies Ed-U-Gator for UHD student and community events. "This experience definitely made me want to become a professional mascot even more. It was the most exciting moment of my life!"

That weekend, Ed-U-Gator also attended the 10th Annual Rockets Run, a race sponsored by the Houston Rockets that benefits Autism Speaks.

Lewis said, "I was able to spend time with the kids and encourage people before their races which was great. Next year, I'd like to run the 5K race as Ed-U-Gator."
