UHD Welcomes Taiwanese Students Jan. 12

UHD will welcome 23 students from the Central Police University (CPU) of Taiwan on Jan. 12 for a three-week English language immersion program with UHD's English Language Institute.

According to Gail Kellersberger, ELI director, this program is an offshoot of the Bayou Connection Program which was forged by the UHD Department of Criminal Justice with the CPU and brings Taiwanese transfer students to UHD to study criminal justice.

Students of the language immersion program are studying for Taiwanese degrees in criminal justice or fire management. They will receive specialized instruction at UHD in the English language used in the fire and police fields with emphasis on conversation and report writing.

A reception for the group will be held at 10:45 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 12, in room A420, Academic Building.
