Office of Global Citizenship Created

The Office of International Education and the Office of Community Engagement have combined to form the Office of Global Citizenship. This office, under the leadership of Dr. Jean DeWitt, who has been serving as Director of Community Engagement, will support and coordinate programs within Academic Affairs that involve international courses, faculty-led student trips, visiting foreign scholars and students, civic engagement (including the Texas Compact), internships, service learning, and other activities across the colleges and the university related to preparing our students to take their place as global citizens.

The purpose of this new office is to unite areas within Academic Affairs that contribute to the High Impact Educational Experiences that UHD has pledged to put at the center of its curricular offerings and degree programs for all of its students.

Dr. DeWitt will be assisted in her work by Mr. Spencer Lightsy, who now holds the title of Director of International Programs in the Division of Student Success and Enrollment Management. The Office of Global Citizenship reports to Dr. Michael Dressman, Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs.
