Cadets Participate in National Prescription Drug Take Back Day

Cadets from UHD's Criminal Justice Training Center participated in the National Drug Enforcement Agency's Prescription Drug Take Back Day event on Saturday, Oct. 29.

The event provides a venue for persons to dispose of unwanted and unused prescription drugs in order to keep them off the streets and out of the hands of youths and addicts.

Amanda McLaughlin, Bay Area Alliance coalition manager, said the event was very successful and 462 pounds of medication was collected.

"Each cadet was very professional and (they) were very helpful at the Take Back event. With law enforcement resources more difficult to come by each year, it was so nice to have cadets to make the process run more smoothly," McLaughlin said.
