Fall Open House is Saturday, Nov. 5

By: Randy Cypret

The University of Houston-Downtown invites prospective students, transfer students and their families to a fall open house, "Destination Downtown," from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, Nov. 5, in UHD's historic One Main Building.

The open house is designed so participants can meet with faculty and staff, learn more about the University's five colleges and 44 degree programs, explore financial aid options and visit with members of UHD's many student organizations. Tours will be available. Students who bring their academic transcripts can apply for on-the-spot admission.

"We have something special here at UHD. A UHD education opens a lot of doors and provides many opportunities for students," said UHD President Bill Flores. "We have exceptional faculty and staff members who have achieved great things in their fields and it really benefits our students."

Check in is at the Wilhelmina Cullen Robertson Auditorium on the third floor of the Academic Building.

Information will be available about classes offered at UHD's downtown location along with information on degrees available at UHD Northwest, which is located at Lone Star College-University Park, Louetta Road and Highway 249. Students can also learn about UHD programs available at Lone Star College campuses at CyFair, Kingwood and Atascocita.

Freshman applications for spring semester are due by the Dec. 15 deadline with all documents arriving at UHD by Jan. 15. Transfer students must apply by Dec. 15 for spring semester with all transcripts and other documents arriving by Jan. 7.

For more information, call 713-221-8522 or go to http://www.uhd.edu/admissions/. Students can RSVP for the open house online.
