UHD is proud to host the Second UBM South Regional Conference, a primarily undergraduate conference in mathematics and biology, this Friday and Saturday, Oct. 28 and 29, on our campus.
The meeting is hosted by UHD’s Departments of Computer and Mathematical Sciences and Natural Sciences and will feature short 15- to 20-minute talks by students on their research projects and results. The keynote speakers are: Mesias Pedroza, a UHD alumnus who received his doctorate in biochemistry in May 2011 from the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston and Claudia Neuhauser, the Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs and Director of Graduate Studies in Biomedical Informatics and Computational Biology, among other things, from the University of Minnesota, Rochester.
Many of the student attendees are supported by UHD’s National Science Foundation-funded program which supports undergraduate students in biology and mathematics.
