Yvonne Kendall Appointed to New Position with Houston's Bach Society

By: Mary Ann Cozza

Yvonne Kendall, UHD associate professor of music, is making sweet music so to speak with a new position at the Bach Society Houston, a professional music organization that presents the works of Johann Sebastian Bach and his contemporaries.

Kendall was named Director of Illuminations, a new series of pre-concert events for patrons. In this role, she will organize and present lectures and discussions prior to Bach Society Vespers and Abendmusik concerts. The society had the kickoff performance of the season this past weekend.

"I have been involved with the Bach Society for several years, performing in some of their events and assisting the director in various ways," Kendall said. "[The society] asked me to get involved with Illuminations and my work has already begun!"

Kendall brings significant experience to this position as program annotator and lecturer for Mercury Baroque, Houston Grand Opera, Houston Early Music, and Society for the Performing Arts. She will be writing program notes for the Society this season as well.

Congratulations!
