UHD's Cultural Enrichment Center is sponsoring a slew of unique events this fall, starting with the Writing and C/Siting Houston Fall Reading Series.

Writing and C/Siting Houston is a collaborative project by Houston writers, folklorists, historians and others to share their thoughts on the places, neighborhoods, restaurants and locales of this city that make it unique. The first reading, "From Hip Hop to SugarHill," will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 22, at Bohemeo's, 708 Telephone Road. Contributors include Marco Cervantes reading "Transforming Jail Route," Bao-Long Chu reading "2600 Travis," David Theis reading "The Ruins of Houston," and Roger Wood reading "Gold Star/SugarHill Recording Studio: The Story of a House."

The second reading, "Old Neighborhoods, New Neighbors," will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 20, at the University of Houston-Downtown's Cullen Robertson Auditorium and the last reading, "Houston Inside Out: A Symposium," will be from 1 to 4 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 12, at the Houston Public Library, 500 McKinney Street.
