UHD and UH Host Regional Summit

UHD and UH are co-hosting a Student Success Summit Monday, Sept. 12, at the Hilton University of Houston, funded by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB). Educators from across the region will hear and discuss learning strategies they can take back to their own campuses.

Several UHD faculty members co-authored the grant that supports this great event, assisted in preparing the summit's breakout sessions and will serve as discussion leaders.

The keynote speaker will be George Kuh, the founding director of the Center for Postsecondary Research and the National Survey of Student Engagement (NSSE). Kuh's keynote session will focus on high-impact strategies.

Educators will also participate in breakout workshops according to their academic disciplines to discuss more strategies specific to their classrooms. Presentations from Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID), Preparing to Dream, Project GRAD and Houston Pathways will take place in the afternoon.
