Update on the Library's Art Installation

By: Mary Ann Cozza

The W. I. Dykes Library's art project is one step closer to completion as artist Bert Samples monitored the installation of his multilayer glass work this week.

"I am so excited to see the whole project completed," Samples said. "I want the work to engage students while they study for classes and provide them with an opportunity to open their minds and see things differently."

Samples worked for three years on this piece that will form the wall between the library's Event Room and the Reading Room on the northwest part of the fourth floor.

"I am fascinated with light and can't wait to see how the surrounding LED lights, overhead lights and natural sunlight affect the space and the piece," Samples said.

The installation is scheduled to be completed Friday, Aug. 19, in time for the start of fall semester. For more information about this project, click here.
