Dean Ahern Steps Down and Returns to the Classroom

Susan Ahern, Dean of the College of Humanities and Social Sciences, has announced that she is stepping down from her deanship and returning to the English Department as a faculty member, effective Aug. 31.

"We will miss her service to the College of Humanities and Social Sciences. Under her leadership, CHSS has experienced growth in programs and degrees. When I first arrived, I was impressed by many things. One was noting Dr. Ahern, herself, often posted the latest CHSS happenings to her college's Facebook page," said Brian Chapman, UHD Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs. "Her devotion and attention to detail will be a tough act to follow. We are fortunate and our students are fortunate that she has decided to return to the classroom."

Succeeding Dean Ahern as Interim Dean will be Robert Jarrett, English Department Chair. Sandra Dahlberg, professor of English, will serve this year as Interim Department Chair of English. Chapman announced a nationwide search for a new CHSS dean will begin this fall.
