UHD Cheerleaders Win a Bid to National Collegiate Championship

They’ve got spirit, yes they do! The UHD Cheerleaders won several awards and their first bid to the National Cheerleaders Association Championship competition while attending summer training camp at the University of Central Arkansas July 29-31.

The UHD team excelled while at camp, taking home superior ratings on all evaluations as well as the coveted NCA Spirit Award, given to the one team at camp that exhibits great work ethic, quality sportsmanship and spirit. And for the first time in UHD history, the team received a bid to the NCA Collegiate Championship competition which will be held in Daytona Beach, Fla. in April 2012.

The team continues to prepare for the upcoming school year while also focusing on training and fundraising for the national competition. The team will host a cheer camp to raise money to assist with expenses for cross-country travel and lodging costs. The camp is for cheerleaders ages four through high school and will be held in the UHD Student Life Center Saturday, Aug. 13. All campers will receive a t-shirt and lunch with their registration.
